ABOUT GREEN ELECTRICITY WATCH

Green Electricity Watch is brought to you by 17 Australian environmental groups who want you to know that your electricity choice makes a big difference to the environment. Our goal is to raise awareness on this issue, and help you to make the switch to clean energy.

The project
Green Electricity Watch strives to tell electricity consumers how Australia's electricity retailers are responding to the challenge of climate change, a serious environmental problem largely caused by the emissions of greenhouse gases.

We compare various electricity providers' performance, to inform you and help you find a way to reduce the greenhouse pollution. Our national comparison of electricity retailers is designed to demonstrate Australian best practice, and the extent of improvement toward the goal of clean energy.

This is the second year we have performed the Green Electricity Watch survey. We intend to repeat the survey on a regular basis, to ensure Australians have the information they need to make the right environmental choice when it comes to electricity.

The Electricity Scorecard
We surveyed electricity retailers about their position on policies which will reduce greenhouse pollution. We asked them about the services they offer customers to reduce their reliance on dirty electricity, and we surveyed their green energy products (see our questionnaire).

The result is the Green Electricity Watch Scorecard.

For detailed results of the survey, please read the full Report.
