Hawkesbury-Nepean River

A considerable reduction in water runoff with an associated reduction in river flow is expected for the Hawkesbury-Nepean River (Warner 2002). This is primarily due to an expected continuation of negative trends in rainfall, higher temperatures and increased evaportation rates resulting from climate change. The implications of this continued trend indicate that a significant reduction in water resources is likely for the region, possibly far below current water use requirements.
