Water for cities

Hobart, Tasmania

Under predicted climate change, Hobart is expected to receive increased rainfall, and therefore, will most likely receive increased water supplies (Pittock 2003).

At current, Tasmania uses up to 2% of Australia's total water supply (DEH 2005). In addition, 7 out of 19 surface water management areas and none of the 17 groundwater units are classified as being highly or overdeveloped.
